Here's a good example of Honduras Maroon GM paint code 948 (PPG paint code 50568).

Sweet frakking mother of Cylon! That's amazing. Also makes me think that that body shape would work well with a German carve :?

That's really beautiful. It looks like there might be enough room to relieve the back of the corner of the fretboard to fit around the neck pickup.

Edit: I see you used this neck on another build in progress so I expect you'll use an appropriately built neck for this body.

Cheers guys!

Jason, I was thinking just that earlier today... Only my thought was that I'd do a German carve with binding on the inside layer... :-/

Cheers Rgand! Yeah this one is for forum member Julius above. He will provide the neck ;)

I think his plan is to send it off to MJT with the neck for a silver finish! I think he made a fine choice.

Some checking would be cool as well, though I don't know if that's the plan! A preview of how my guitars will look when I'm old and grey... :D

Inside layer? Not sure what you mean...

How about a small German carve framing the f-hole?

Haha funny thing is it already has kind of a German carve on the f-hole, except it's underneath!

Let me try to explain better... So a German carve is kind of like the opposite of an edge radius (it goes in instead of out) and usually (like on the POST) you would then to a tighter roundover on the two resulting 90° edges (the POST was a 12mm ball end for the internal and two 3mm roundovers, one around the outside, and one around the inside of the carve).

What I'm suggesting is to do it like that, but instead of doing the 3mm roundover on the inside, I'd cut a binding channel :w00t:

Could even do a binding channel on the outside as well...

Kinda like this (binding between the guitar top and the top of the German carve)?

I have no idea, but I remembered running into it on google some months back looking for cool pictures of German carves. I thought it looked AMAZING. I just looked it back up and found that it's a Japanese Vox-inspired thing:

REALLY fantastic looking :? :?
