Stupidly Large F-Hole - Julius' project completed! Pics on P7!

Post by Deed_Poll » Thu Aug 03, 2017 6:08 pm

I've been designing a Thinline for a forum member and thought I'd play with designing an f-hole for the Jupiter...

Whether it was the sugary coffee or the psychedelic cartoons that did it, I don't know... But I got very carried away! :freako:

What are your thoughts? Crazy enough to be cool? I always loved the huge f-holes on those Aria basses...

Cheers!

Yep, I like it. Which surprises me, not being a fan of the thinline look, but it's different enough and well enough set off by the other aesthetic choices in that design that it works.
This is an excellent rectangle

Looks cool. I would be worried about losing a pick in there or something. LOL

Or my keys.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

You would absolutely loose a pick in there. But you'd know where it is, unlike most of the picks I have bought over the years.

Also, I really like unapologetic sound holes, especially ones that aren't apologetic AND aren't wide.

It would be even cooler if it were cut right through like these basses.

I think the option to have the f hole on a solid would be an idea. Maybe to a depth of 50%…..i like f holes.

Actually I think it's still a bit too small ;)
Seriously I really like it, I'd love to see that thing get built.

Hahaha, this is really, really cool!
I really dig your designs.

My one thought would be that the headstock looks a bit tame in comparison to the body now..? I don't think it needs to be too crazy since the body is quite mental, but maybe a slightly exaggerated line on the top would send it off-kilter in a really nice way.

Color-wise...Something like that seems to be called for:

id suggest for such a prominent f-hole a own shape, that just works with this design to have something like a rememberence mark or something. looks cool! :?

I immediately thought of the Ampeg bass and the Eastwood derivatives...

I dig giant f-holes, by the way.

I like it.

Just thinking out loud, how would something like this look if it was done diagonally through the centre of the body?
