NGD (almost)!: The Rankmaster
I just got back into town from Florida right as my guitar tech left to go to Florida so I will have to wait for another week to try it out but I wanted to share a pic until I can try it out.
It has been nicknamed "The Rankmaster". I'm not really sure what else to call it. The body was made by our very own Deedpoll. I will update this thread when I get a chance to try it out. I had it wired bridge/series/neck/parallel except using Fender WRHB & with a low pass filter like the Marrguar. I am going to swap out the knobs for chrome ones & maybe throw on a Staytrem bridge. Should be interesting.
Thoughts?

StayTrem bridge would be amazing, I must say though I think the black knobs look great! Maybe black reflector knobs would be good though?
I was just thinking about this, having that rotary control is so cool for a guitar like this. I bet you could do crazy things if you could split those coils, you'd basically have a 4 pickup guitar and limitless mental noises...
Pleasure to work on this with you man! Congrats on the NGD

It was supposed to be wired like a Marrguar but there was an issue with it. I won't really know until next week unfortunately. I will update the thread when I get some time with it.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:Love it! What's the second upper switch do?

I've gotten to spend some time with it & the upper switches work as bass cuts. The vertical one deals with the neck pickup & the horizontal one handles the bridge pickup. The selector switch is series/neck/parallel/bridge. It really turned out amazing.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:Love it! What's the second upper switch do?

That makes more sense to me than the way the Marr was wired. Isn't one just for the neck pickup, and the other for both on the Marr?rank wrote:I've gotten to spend some time with it & the upper switches work as bass cuts. Re: NGD (almost)!: The Rankmaster
Any chance of some more sexy photos?
I'd love to see a video or hear some sound clips... Judging by the WRHB on my Customaster which is a very bassy pickup, I imagine the bass cut is actually really useful on that guitar. I have a treble bleed on the volume control of mine and it gets a ton of use.
How are the ergonomics?

Love the shape, where did the inspiration from? Is it the horns of a mustang and the bottom f a Jag/JM? Nice colour/pickguard combo too.

I will put some pics & sound clips together soon. The kids start back to school this week so it will be pretty hectic.Deed_Poll wrote:Any chance of some more sexy photos?

Re: NGD (almost)!: The Rankmaster
A few places really. I saw a pic of John Squire's from the Stone Roses guitar. It is a weird mix of a Jazz Bass & Jaguar but was kind of oversized. I also have 60's Gibson SG bass that is that color. It is a beater that someone installed a P-Bass pickup in. They make quite the pair. I had messaged Deedpoll & we went back & forth on some specifics & then he built it. He really knocked it out of the park!tvrf wrote:Love the shape, where did the inspiration from? Is it the horns of a mustang and the bottom f a Jag/JM? Nice colour/pickguard combo too.
