when it comes to my p-bass, i actually can't tell, i don't remember. i've had the same set for probably a decade though, on different basses, and i love the way they sound.
i have some fender flats on my jazz bass, which are super stiff, and a little brighter, but are also really good sounding strings.

Man, I haven't changed the flats on my p-bass since 2005 I think it was. They still sound amazing and feel just fine. Won't change them until they break so hopefully never.

I use Picato flatswounds, cheap sound great last forever..... I think its prolly 2 years since I changed the strings & I play almost daily on one of the 2 electrics (Jag/Mustang) I have.
I used to use D'addario Chromes but they kept snapping/ unwrapping on the e & b strings.

So this happened. I kinda can't figure out why it's taken so longTelliot wrote:Oh yeah, it changed my life. It gives it a 'deader', more vintage-y sound, if that makes any sense, and no string scrape!! I HIGHLY recommend trying it out. I made the change maybe four or five years ago and I'll never go back.parry wrote:HELLO! Tell me more? Sound?
ZOMG! How much do I love that sound? I've been playing a Yamaha that a friend left me, when he went out West. It's a surprisingly nice guitar. Nice build, plays really well... it's actually a bit nicer than the reissue Guild I used to have. But... it always sounded too bright/brash, no matter what strings were on it. Anyway. Long story short... it sounds perfect, to these ears. I can't put this guitar down
Thank you, Gentlemen
