Cheers dude! That's exactly what I was going for, I think that style in some nice baked ash (looks like a cross between walnut and rosewood) should have the old-world charm of a rifle stock mixed with the imposing angles of a metal gear!

Here's some progress on the surface modelling. I'd say I'm about 1/2 way there now. The back will be fully carved as well.



The pickups are the size I would have to make a lozenge shaped pickup cover to house a standard sized humbucker at an angle.

Really interesting design!

For the angled humbuckers, if you speak to a local (to you) pickup maker, they should be able to make the coils offset so the poles sit under the strings properly.
It might just require a simple mod to the backplate, moving the coil mounting screws for the slug coil.
Plus it may need a longer bar magnet, depending how offset the coils become to follow the angle.
