Yeah that's the problem. So far I can't find anyone who can build it for me.Rgand wrote:Wrap it up and ship it. It's great just the way it is. Thumbs-up!neutralomen wrote:This is my favorite version! What do you all think of MKIV?

Maybe Kevin at Faction guitars can make the templates for you. https://store.factionguitars.com/ Then all you need to do is find someone who is experienced at routing to cut one out for you. You could ask Kevin who he would recommend.neutralomen wrote:Yeah that's the problem. So far I can't find anyone who can build it for me.Rgand wrote:Wrap it up and ship it. Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
it says in the FAQ he can't. I can make a vector template maybe but it would be my first one so I assume it would be a huge pain. Worth a shot though.

Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
Mark V! At this point the changes were subtle. I cleaned and refined the bottom shape, and made the angle next to the control plate more sympathetic with the control plate shape.
I'd say this is ready to turn into a template. If anyone has any help besides the suggestions mentioned, please let me know!
Best case scenario, I partsocaster this complete with decals, and get it made with as many real fender parts as possible.

Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
MKV has a more pleasing lower curve but the lower butt section is starting to protrude a little more than before and for my tastes, sticking out just a slight bit much. It helps to have the curve next to the control plate more in keeping with it but I'd bring it in ever so slightly to balance better. Right now it's a tad bit heavy looking in that area. Keep any changes very slight, though.

Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
It would have to be like super super slight but I'll try. At that point it run the risk of it looking too "stretched" o n the y axis. Too tall and skinny like the current jagstang. Another thing is, I believe the middle strap button on the bottom can't come too high. If you look at the three models juxtaposed, you'll see the offset is already cutting into the original mustang body. The higher that middle button, the more of the right side of the mustang we lose, and the more the pickguard and trem will look too big. It's another thing to watch out for.Rgand wrote:MKV has a more pleasing lower curve but the lower butt section is starting to protrude a little more than before and for my tastes, sticking out just a slight bit much. That's what I think makes this project different from previous jag 2.0 projects. A. I do this for a living and b. I'm anal retentive:)
I'll try to make those tweaks though

"b" is good in this case. You're really doing this right. I've never thought I'd like a Jagstang but this one is "correct" rather than looking like a Mustang with an aneurysm.neutralomen wrote:It would have to be like super super slight but I'll try. Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
Ok. Time for mark VI.
This one is very subtle in its difference. I took in the butt next to the control plate a bit, but as you can see in the schematic of all three, the angle of the body against the pickguard must match with the angle of the body against the control plate. If that relationship is broken, the bottom of the body near the control plate will look like a skinny sliver. Keeping those relationships intact, I took it in as far as it would go.
Also, this is the narrowest possible setup in which the widest points in the two bottoms are equidistant from the center. If I took the right side in any further, I'd have to take the left side in too, and I don't want to do that, as it will become too close to a mustang on that side.
How do you all like the Mark VI?

Re: Reviving the Jagstang 2.0
after this i have to see about makign a vector drawing for a template. I'll also probably do a poll for whether I should have body contours. Any thoughts on that? The original Mustangs had no contours, but the jags did. I wonder which direction that should go

Contours, for sure. They add another level of comfort. Since the originals had them, they would add to it.

I just wanted to thank everyone again for their amazing feedback! I couldn't have finished it without your discerning eyes. I came to the right place. Leave it to offset enthusiasts to be persnickety about angle minutiae
