Found in trash Amp Cabinet -- Stage two w/ Pics
Couple months ago I found a 2x15 with top tweet section that someone was throwing away. I play bass as well as guitar so I figured I would load it up in my car see what speakers it had and figure out what to do with it.
First It was dirty and full of dead spiders..... so I vacuumed and gave it a scrub and tested it out. Pretty good sounding
I decided because it was heavier than any cabinet I would ever use in a live situation plus that amount of space it requires that I would gut the 2x15 keep the speakers and build smaller cabinets.
For the top section I decided to use it as a lift for my Musicman RD100. I did a little paint job and the size matches up perfectly.

Nice! It's amazing what some people throw out. I know someone who found a beat-up silverface Champ in the trash that only needed new tubes

Re: Found in trash Amp Cabinet + More Project
Alright as a continuation to this post I have added photos of my cabinet build thus far. As you can see from my first post I just did a paint job on the top portion of the found cabinet. However I removed the the 2x15s that were in the bottom cabinet. I decided that I wanted to build a vertical cab, with the same dimensions of an Orange 2x12 to go with my Overdrive 120 Head. Should I even try to do this as 2x15 or stick to the plan of a 1x15.
I used 3/4in Birch ply, with a round over bit, and a 45 bit for the inner brace which are 1.5inch strips of 3/4in ply. I figured this out from my head, and set my rounder to match. Pretty easy so far. I glued, clamped and then added a brad nail for the box cabinet. I have no way of dove or finger joining this was the best I could do. I used the back and the baffle as my right angles, and the tape as an extra hand for setup. More photos to come as to when I tolex or decide to stain.

1X15 always sounds good in my book, but a 2X15 would probably sound pretty killer! Why do you make two baffles, and then you could switch it out as you feel like?

An orange into a 2x15 is such a solid idea.
This is an excellent rectangle

Cool find!
I know the guys over at talkbass are pretty anal about cab size related to speaker parameters. Did you take this into consideration? You won't get the most out of your cab if you don't 'tune' it to the speaker.
Unless you keep it open back, then it doesn't really matter afaik.
Still, an Orange into a 2x15 sounds like a killer plan.

Quick question about tolex. How much extra should I get? just measure the whole cab at 9.16ft or 3.05 yards assuming I should do 4 yards will be a lot more then needed
Also!
