I'm looking for advice on what I should be expecting to be paying for a 61 Jazzmaster body, neck, wiring harness with pots. The body and neck have been refinished, including the headstock/decal. The guitar comes with everything else repro/reissue and is being sold as a project. The seller is looking for €2k. I'm in the UK, guitar is EU.
What is a ball park figure should I be expecting to be paying to put back the hardware to '61, tuners, p/ups,scratchplate, bridge....
Any help would be appreciated, I've done other project guitars but this would be my first vintage.
Here is the guitar:

I've never seen a Jazzmaster with a stop bar tailpiece - is the body modified under the pickguard?

I've asked for more photos of the insides however nothing received. The seller doesn't seem in any rush to share more photos to help sell this. All a bit frustrating.

I've built myself one with a Gotoh 510 wrap bridge . . . but yes this is 'weird' as I didn't think the post spacing on a standard wrap bridge is the same as a JM bridge . . . . Quick check NO it's indeed not according to StewMac the post spacing on a JM is 2 7/8, tunomatics are 2 15/16 so they just might fit but the spacing for a standard wrap bridge is 3 1/4 making it almost certain that this body has been modified and you'll have to fill and redrill some holes.
It also makes me somewhat suspicious about the provenance of the body . . . . I would think nobody in their right mind would have modified a vintage JM like that in the last 2+ decades given the loss of value implied in filling and redrilling the post holes. Any sane person would have just gotten a new bridge (if that was the issue) wrapped the posts in something to lock them down and then locked the trem so as not to diminish the value. Of course plenty of bodies were modified BEFORE they ever became vintage so this may be one of them . . . but it does make checking that you are getting what you think you are getting all that more important.

When thinking about any advice given always ask yourself "why would (s)he know more than I do".

Maybe it's just me but this seems like a really terrible deal for 2k?

Yep . . . . given this I have some serious doubts, and the fact that the body has been refinished doesn't make me 'feel' any better about it.

Yep, agree. Have pulled out of this, the seller was less that helpful. Seller says he has a buyer at 2k.
