Jaguar Hardware

Post by iggie1961 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:36 pm

Hello I'm Glenn I just joined and this is my first post. I'm looking for information on how to find gold colored jaguar pickup claws. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't think I've ever seen gold claws. :mellow:

Have you seen them on a guitar somewhere previously, or is it more of a fantasy build?

Some of the limited Japanese Jaguars had them. The black and the blonde. I would just keep an eye on ebay for some to show up. I got a gold Mustang bridge that way.

don't keep looking on eBay; let eBay look for you!
"gold pickup fender jaguar" would be a good search. Save it and let eBay send you results by email.
good luck!

If you can't wait, and money isn't a constraint, you could buy the standard ones then find someone in your area who does electroplating.

I think that's a smart move if you have the $. With such small items I doubt they would charge you much.

Depends. There's usually a batch fee if they're setting it up just for you. If you're lucky and/or patient, since they're small, they might be able to throw them in alongside a bigger order from someone else and not charge you the setup fee. You'd have to wait for someone else to order the kind of gold plating you wanted though, and for there to be physical space for your claws alongside that customer's order.

Or say "screw it" and order some just for yourself - though, if you did this, you might be wise to poll the forum and see if it would be worth your while to plate some extras and sell them to help offset (ha!) the cost.

look around in your area for antique refinishers, cutlery, flatware, and jewelers. They are the ones that do the most gold plating. Usually I small quantities. People often have to re-plate certain flatware serving pieces more than others. you may have to wait for a bit, but they will do it for you as they look down their nose at you.

Another way is to get one of those diy gold plater wands... https://www.google.com/search?client=sa ... t&tbm=shop" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
