9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
I have a Squier body that I have painted charcoal frost & am using a CP Jazzmaster neck which is 9.5 radius & I'm trying to find a bridge to use with it. I want a Mustang style one & don't want to go with a Mastery. What kind of options are out there? The only other one I know is Staytrem which I may go with. Are there any others I'm missing?

Either Staytrem or the Modified Mustang (a Mustang bridge with saddle height screws). I got mine from Warmoth back in the day.

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
I find it odd that most necks seem to be 9.5 these days & there aren't more options for bridges out there.

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
Staytrem has a 9.5
Warmoth has a bridge with an adjustable height.
Mastery also can be adjusted to whatever radius.
Heck I've even seen Chinese Mustang bridges that are like the Warmoth one with adjustable screws for the height.
That is plenty of choice right there.

Not to mention, you know, actual Jazzmaster bridges (on a JM? BLASPHEMY!).tribi9 wrote:Staytrem has a 9.5

But really, what more could you need? Modified mustang covers all radii on the cheap, Mastery covers them at the top end, and Staytrem comes in both popular radii in the midrange. Plus those Chinese imitation Warmoth bridges on the heap. Lots of choice if you ask me.

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
I recently posted a thread covering my conversion of a Mustang bridge to adjustable rollers sourced from an old Kahler vibrato. It provides a fully adjustable radius and makes dragging your strings across solid bits of metal nothing more than a bad memory.

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
I highly recommend staytrem!
it's a bit more expensive than a mustang bridge but It will save you a lot of trouble! No buzzing, no need for Loctite, better string spacing and of course 9.5 radius version .
My partscaster Jaguar also has VM body with CP neck and Staytrem and It plays and sounds like a dream

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
With the pound where it's at, it's only about $85 to ship in a Staytrem these days. On the used market unless it's around $70 I would just order in a new one. While still slightly high those prices are really not too bad.George L wrote:I highly recommend staytrem!

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
Hey - Fender have just released the New Professional Series (American Standard) they have Jazzmasters and Jaguars with a newly machined 9.5" radius Brass (modified) Mustang bridge. (Feb 2017)
This is just what everyone might have been waiting for - I haven't seen these for sale as parts yet
Wondering if they could be even better than a Mastery? probably be a whole lot more afforadable?

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
I put the Staytrem 9.5" bridge and trem arm on this Blacktop Jazzy. The bridge was a night and day improvement of the crappy Blacktop rattle trap. The order took about a week to get to my door.

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
OK - scrub that.... I was trying to get some excitement about the newly 'tooled' Professional Series offset Bridges
I see now, from reading another thread that .... they got the radius right (for a Squier VM) - but they have the bridge spacing wrong (at 55m) rather than the Mastery's 52"

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
As paspallum63 said the string spacing is wrong. American professional offsets have 9.5 radius fb but it seems that E strings sit very close to the edge of the fretboard.
Also US Fender bridges are not cheap

Re: 9.5 Radius Replacement Bridge
Yes
I need an upgraded bridge for my Jaguar - I've shimmed it and I have 12 - 56's on it
I have a VERY light touch (not as light as some) but even with the shim the stock vintage style jaguar bridge wiggles around too much with strings that are lighter then this (some will disagree - but light string on my jag - don't work)
There is also this nasty resonance from the stock bridge on the G and B string that I can't get rid of (a nasal ringing)
I think the bridge issues are due to the shorter scale length on the jag - as my Jazzmaster is OK with the stock bridge
I'm going to get a STAYTREM for sure 100% - theyare almost 1/4 the price of a Mastery (including shipping to New Zealand)
The Staytrem seems to tick every box and affordable
I'm wondering if the bridge plate sides are less tall on the Staytrem than a stock bridge? as that can be an issue too
Although I guess that really get worse when you have to shim and then raise the bridge
I'm looking forward to a lower bridge!
