Wow, that's a lovely color.
Hoping for a matching headstock, also.
God, I'd even do the back of the neck that color, lol.
Also,no clear PG mandate = tort.

Thanks. I am going with the cream pearl guard. It actually plays really well together with the 'manganbraun' metallic finish.Bothand Nether wrote:Wow, that's a lovely color.

I am doing the matching headstock. The neck is a mahogany, and I gave it the first shots of clear yesterday after a few weeks of inactivity because of bad weather. The warm goldish brown shades of the mahogany are pure magic with the brown metallic finish too, and this is turning out to be a very pretty guitar indeed.
I hope to post new (and better) pictures soon. I realise I didn't post any of the neck yet.

Work in progress on the neck
Matching headstock shot succesfully (for a first try , at least) plus two layers of clear. No wet sanding or buffing yet.

Thanks - it's actually very close to complete. All put together and only needing the last set-up tweaks. It's playable already and sounds great, except the pickups are out of phase. I'll post pictures soon. Promise :-)Kwyjibo wrote:yeah this is really cool. want to see morerevolutron wrote:any more updates?

For lack of better, while waiting for me to get around to taking some pictures, it's actually visible hanging on the wall in this pedal demo video:elektrovac wrote:Thanks - it's actually very close to complete. Ok, you need to do a demo with a Tweed amp and the old black inspired JM.

Thanks, the colour is Mercedes Benz 'Manganbraun Metallic' (code '480', used 1979-1986). I use Motip brand rattle cans, which are really nice and very easy to work with. Manganbraun Metallic is Motip code "51800".Shadoweclipse13 wrote:That looks so good! Do you have a picture of the paint can you used? Okay, finally, here's some better quality photos. The guitar still needs a proper set-up, and the pick-ups are still out of phase, but it's playable and I've been enjoying it a lot. The decal needs to be redone. Just so damned busy these days ...

WOW. That thing is awesome. Really love how the slab body works without any contours.

Re: New project: Jazzblaster inspired by Neil Young's Old Bl
The guitar is complete now and it turned out very, very nice. I am enjoying it a lot. The two pickups sounds great together, but it's a weird and counter-intuitive concept to me, really. The bright pickup at bridge and the dark one at neck position. Can't help thinking they would balance much better in reverse positions. But well, if it works for Neil ...
I'm playing the guitar in this short teaser for a new distortion pedal:
