The Rankmaster may have the greatest body design I've ever seen.

Deedpoll did an amazing job with it. I'm kind of leaning towards a warmoth moon caster neck with it but am wondering if the headstock would be too much with it. Thoughts?CorporateDisguise wrote:The Rankmaster may have the greatest body design I've ever seen.

Some great projects!rank wrote:Update: the XII, Rankmaster, & Charcoal Frost Jazzmaster are about done...so much for focusing on 1 at a time. The XII will be white blonde (I fell in love with that Jag that Sonicchris posted) & am going to paint the Rankmaster heritage red like an old SG. I'm hoping to have the 3 finished up in about a month & will post pics as they are completed.
The Mustang will follow after that & will be Burgundy Mist Metallic with a black pickguard & a black headstock, white knobs & pickup covers, & white switches once I can find them.
I am going to have to wait a bit on the Toronado until I can find some suitable pickups & a neck for it.
I have given up on the Shergold since I can't find a neck for it. I was holding out hope that the reissues would provide me a neck to use but, after seeing them, I've decided to abandon the project instead.
That's a shame about the Shergold, would you consider selling it as is?
regards,
Mike

Did I miss the CFM Jazzmaster?

Re: The Rank's bitten off more than he can chew thread
Hey Rank! I just thought I'd pitch in on the Shergold, I've been focusing on building parametric design tools for necks where I can key in stuff like the scale length and heel position in addition to stuff like the neck contour, fb radius, but width etc. It's still got a ways to go, I'm working on the jigs at the moment which is a challenge because they have to be flexible enough to support most anything I can throw at them, but I thought I'd let you know it might well be possible soon to make a custom neck to fit the Shergold without the headache of a complete custom build.
I developed the tool mostly so I can do completely custom scale conversion necks for a range of models to get them basically any scale you want, particularly a 25-1/2" conversion neck for a Jag / Mustang. I'll keep everyone posted! It's been some time since I've been posting regularly but I hope to do a thread dedicated to what I have in the works soon enough so there will be some more detail there if anybody's interested.
Cheers!
Dan

And FWIW, I think a mooncaster headstock shape would be awesome on the Rankmaster!

That tool for the necks sounds fantastic & may be exactly what I need to finish up the Shergold project. Keep me posted for sure. I would've loved to put a moon caster neck on the Rankmaster but had to go with a Jazzmaster neck since I already had one. It's being painted heritage red like an old SG & it will have a black headstock. It should be ready any time & I will post some pics when it's done. It's really looking great!

Is it tacky to want to call dibs on the walnut Toro?
If so, I am ok being tacky.

I've been thinking of getting a black Mastery bridge & trem to go on the Charcoal Frost Jazzmaster. It'll have a black pick guard & chrome pickup covers. Would the black Mastery items be too much?
