I built something offset..
Hi folks!
Been following for a while, but think this is my first post here..
Anyway - I really wanted an offset guitar, but had a few ideas of my own, mostly I wanted a guitar with a slightly smaller outline than a regular fender.
So about 18 months ago I started to draw something at night.
This is what came out:
Just for fun I called the guitar "Dynoluxe", mostly cause my own name is kind of lame.
I started to build both guitars - One more "fendery" and one more "gibsonesque"
The first "fendery" one is now ready and i thought I´d share it with you.
UPDATE: second guitar also ready, more pics in page 3
The guitar turned out pretty much as I wanted, but there are a few things that I´ll continue to work on, mostly for aesthetic resasons.
I´m yet to finish the second one and have around 20 - 40 hours left on it. After that I´ll evaluate both builds and prabably make some changes and build
some more.
The specs for the white one is:
Alder body
Maple neck w. maple fretboard
10" radius
Low/medium/narrow frets
Fender EJ tuners and Tremolo
Dimazio Area-T in neck and classic humbucker in bridge
3 ply tortoise print pickguard
Brass metal extensions ( should have been nickelplated, but I gave up on DIY electrolplating cause it drew me nuts)
3 way tele switch
Microswitch (for killswitch, but it´s not wired up yet)
250 volume pot
Electrosocket output
Body is finished with "centenia" white metallic ( hyundai color me think )
Neck is oiled except headstock.
A few pics from the build.
Thanks!
The "Gibson" version was originally gonna be something close to Pelham-blue
But I made so many mistakes with the clearcoating that I couldn´t stand to see anymore blue, so now it´s red, and hopefully
it stays red..

I like it! It's like a Jag-Stang-Done-Right (lower horn) mixed with a Toronado (upper horn and top of pickguard)!!

You have some serious talent there. The designs are great, and the finished product looks awesome.

Thanks all! really! Wery kind words - almost made all the dark lonely hours in the shop worth it
And thanks for input! Fender toronado, I´m into some serious googlin´right know. But yeah, it has similarities..
Inspiration for the build was, apart from the obvious tele, strat, jazzmaster - Sugi Rainmaker and Grosh Electrajet.
This is only my fourth completed build since i started three years back but it´s so addictive it´s scary. It´s like entering a parallell universe, I like it!

I like that the top horn controls are well out of my strum path!

Re: I built something offset..
I concur! Very nice. I can definitely see the Grosh influence, it also reminds me of an EVH in the lower bout, which is a guitar that is a favourite amongst those looking for something a little smaller in the body.
I do my plates the same way from brass stock and then have them plated and polished by a specialist. Your plate design is very nice!
That idea mounting the humbucker using a pickguard but only as far as the mounting claw has occurred to me before and it's great to see how well it works here. I also very much like the surfacing on your belly contour.
Top work!

Maxbra, these are excellent! I love how you've taken some familiar design aspects, but really made this your own thing. I especially love the custom control plates. Wow!

That thing is the business! However, I think I like the headstock design on the GIbson'y one better. Can't wait to see it finished. Are you taking orders yet?
