Damn that looks good! Really nice on all fronts, would be interesting to try out the body shape!
What are the pickups in this one? Some earlier examples looked like they had goldfoils.

Cheers!
Yeah, the goldfoils were placeholders until these custom ones arrived.
They are handwound in Melbourne by Mrfabulousguitars.

WOW!!!! Very original! I love it.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 7:44 pmIt's all done and wired up.
Still needs the usual tweaking. But it sounds great. The kill switch isn't wired in because they sent me the wrong one.
It does the opposite. It only works when the button is pushed

That's a feature, not a mistake.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 7:44 pmIt's all done and wired up.

Feature for the bass player, that is.
I do like the pickguard on that design; it complements the shape of the body while being shaped nothing like the body.

The whole instrument is stunning, but that headstock really is something elseCROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 7:44 pmIt's all done and wired up.

Re: Cross Guitars - projects and restorations
I got this Chinese Ebay Mustang neck.
It arrived really quickly. I guess that's why it was so expensive.
Anyway. It's not bad. I'm pretty happy with it.
The only thing to note is, that the tuner spacing is slightly wider than usual. So if you are fitting it with
Gotoh vintage kluson style tuners, there will be a gap between each tuner.
Luckily I have these F stamped tuners which are the wider width.
I don't know how it plays yet. I'll string it up in a few days.
It fits the body I have for it really well.

It's from China. Ebay.
The same place the Orange bodies are from, which I believe you also bought?
Anyway, there are still Candy Apple Red ones available. It's flawless!

What drives me BANANAS is that the same sellers have almost all of their other body styles available in a metallic or sparkle purple but not the Mustang. I've even asked them! I'd love to get one for my daughter, but it looks like I'll probably have to paint a body myself for her.

Re: Cross Guitars - projects and restorations
I always thought it weird that more guitar builders don't do their tuners a-la classical guitars. It looks god and can be pretty good for tuning stability while still maintaining break angle.
Nice work.

All wired and strung up!
I still need to polish the frets but it's playable for now.
