My (Sorta...) New Jazzmaster-ish Kinda......

Post by walrus gumboot » Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:50 am

Hello! Long time... no post! I wanted to share what I did to my old VMJM.

Last summer I stripped it down to the bare wood (which took forever...ugh). Gave it a walnut stain and light satin poly finish. Road worn JM neck from back when they were still rosewood fingerboards, TUSQ nut, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bridge pickup, new/no trem plate, and locked the mustang bridge down for good.

As for the wiring, the bottom controls are for the bridge pickup, and the upper controls are for the neck pickup. The caps and all of that have been disconnected so the rollers are just normal volume and tone. The slider switch has been disconnected. So it's wired sort of like a Les Paul now.

Anyway... here's a few pics!

Looks good. I like those hardtail plates.

Thanks! Yeah I was really hoping the grain would look good. I had no idea what to expect underneath all of that paint on the squier...
