White which hats for Squier JM
Hey guys, I found these which hat knobs at ebay:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2506474984
Since it says it's Gibson CTS compatible, I'm wondering if I can adapt these to a Squier JMJM and a Squier VMJM... Can somebody shed a light?

It’s awesome that you get two sets of these for less than half of what a single set of the Fender ones cost. The fact that they charge $35 for two fucking chunks of plastic is insane.
I think these’d work fine

CTS Split shaft is still the US split shaft, which are probably not compatible with what you have in the Squiers.

Relevant segment:
"Split shaft knobs come in two versions, both are 6mm in diameter and only differ in the number of splines. Either a coarse spline that is usually found on import potentiometers (often abbreviated as “pots“) or fine spline found on US CTS pots. Almost all press-on knobs that fit coarse 18-spline pot shafts won’t fit fine 24-spline shafts, and vice versa. NEVER pinch the control shaft with pliers to make a knob fit. This can cause the split shaft to break."

But, the numbers are the wrong way round!! How on earth are they possibly gonna work?!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I was fortunate enough to grab the Fender ‘65 witch hat knobs when they came out. I though the $12.50 they were going for back then was a rip off.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:48 amIt’s awesome that you get two sets of these for less than half of what a single set of the Fender ones cost. Re: White which hats for Squier JM
I recently went though this. I saw those knobs and ended up getting the Fender knobs. The Fender knobs were about $25 for a pair of aged white knobs. I have a Squier Deluxe Jazzmaster. The knobs are for a little larger diameter shaft but with a piece of masking tape work fine. They are set screw knobs. I cut a piece out of a pick to slide in the split shaft. I put two washers on the back side of the pickguard to get the knobs to go flush with the pickguard.
The knobs you are looking at are whiter, start with 0 instead of 1 and go the other way around as I recall. They are probably expecting a slightly larger shaft and since they don't appear to be set screw they may not fit tightly enough.
I haven't actually tried them however so they may work.
