Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
Yeah B-B or maybe trying A-A. From tension gauge calculators I was thinking 13's might work ok while sticking with the 25.5 scale.

If you want that thing to be smooth as a baby's bottom, use a thin coat of filler primer then sand.

Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
When I tune to B or A standard I typically just slap a 10-59 set on there and get rid of the 10.HNB wrote:Yeah B-B or maybe trying A-A. From tension gauge calculators I was thinking 13's might work ok while sticking with the 25.5 scale.

I did 13's on a 25.5 tuned B-B and the low B was loose, but not floppy. I'd think A-A would be floppy, though

Cooter's guard came in. Also worked on spraying the headstock.

Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
Normally I play shortscale so I thought I would try using larger strings and 25.5 scale first. Could always do 28 later if I don't dig the results.

Good call on the single-ply pickguard with non-beveled edge
I'm surprised there isn't a lot more of that around.
Either that, or we're just weirdos

Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
I love this build! FWIW, I also use .013s on my JM tuned B-B and I love it. C-C also sounds good. Going down to A does get a little flopsy mopsy, but it still works.sjperry54 wrote:HNB wrote:Yeah B-B or maybe trying A-A. I hate music, sometimes I don't.
I hate music, it's got too many notes.

Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
Electronics (minus pickups) came in. Still not sure what pickups I want to go with. I have D'Activators but I also have a PAF/Super Distortion combo as well I could use. Looking hot though.

Re: HNB's Baritone Jazzmaster
I go B-B on all my guitars, and the EC-407 and a SqJMJM have .13-.56 and 25.5 scale length, except the mustang, .13-.59. None seem floppy or hard to bend, they all feel just right, like Goldilocks.HNB wrote:Yeah B-B or maybe trying A-A.
