CP Jag high E Problems

Post by stevemac100 » Tue Feb 02, 2016 11:40 pm

Hi, I have a problem with the high e string on my Classic Player Jaguar HH.

The string has developed a really harsh sound, almost sitar-like. The problem happens for open and fretted notes.

I have tried to lube the nut, string tree and bridge saddle - none made difference. I slipped the string out from under the tree which seemed to help - not sure whether that's to be expected.

The problem is really annoying so any advice would be much appreciated.

You may want to check to make sure the E saddle is even and not tilted. Sometimes, when the saddle screws work themselves lose, the saddle will tilt. This can cause some of the "sitar" string ringing effect.

Hi, I eventually narrowed the problem down to a worn string. Replacing the string solved the problem.
