Compensated saddles on a CV Duo-sonic

Post by Trout » Mon Oct 05, 2015 2:50 am

Posted this is in my NGD-post but thought it might be ok here too. I changed the stock saddles to a set of Wilkinsons compensated brass saddles. And they do fit, and the intonation is way more accurate now. But they are a bit too thick for the CV DS as they are tele saddles. String height is now just a tad high on the upper frets. It's def playable, but it disturbs me anyway.. Solution is either compensated saddles that are thinner, from what I've read they should be 6.35 millimeters (1/4") instead of the tele measure 7.9 mm (5/16"). For example http://www.glendaleguitars.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has them. Or you shim the neck a bit. Or file down the underside of the telesaddles just a bit...

Before spending any more money, just try a shim. Cut a couple of pieces of card stock, or cardboard, or credit card, or even take a piece of a match book cover, and just might be the perfect solution.

Yes, I was agreeing with your suggestion. Do something cost-free and reversible before modding saddles or buying new ones.

What was the point of this thread? I thought you were asking for advice...?

Ah okay. Cool. Good stuff, in any case.
