Re: Mastery bridge-- worth it?
It gives me more response from dynamic picking, sustain and freedom to bend up to minor 3's without strings popping out of the bridge. I my tremolo works just fine.
I think you got my radius argument wrong. My neck is 16" and I need to raise the outer saddles to match. If a had a staytrem, that wouldn't work.
EDIT: Not gonna argue about my answer to the OP. Just gave my opinion.

Staytrem will make a bridge for a 16" radius according to their website.Funny Vibe wrote:It gives me more response from dynamic picking, sustain and freedom to bend up to minor 3's without strings popping out of the bridge. I my tremolo works just fine.

I get it that it is your opinion - just wondering, have you had any hands-on experience with the Mastery?Funny Vibe wrote:It gives me more response from dynamic picking, sustain and freedom to bend up to minor 3's without strings popping out of the bridge. I my tremolo works just fine.

We got people playing stringed instruments! It's the end of days.

Yes I have. I tried to like it since everyone else seems to think it's the ultimate upgrade.

It's so bizarre to me that people buy these guitars while not agreeing with anything of their character.Larry Mal wrote:The Buzzstop is a piece of shit. I don't know why anyone would use it.
I also have no idea why anyone would use saddles with height adjustment screws if they don't need it... and since StayTrem makes bridges that are fixed for what is pretty much both of Fender's radii on the offsets, there's just no reason to add that complication.

Is it really? Which guitar should I buy then?
And why are people buying mastery bridges if the guitar is perfect for everyone the way it is? Or putting locking tuners on their strats, modding marshalls, getting nitro refinishes or nashville-modding their teles?

Are these available on their site/eBay shop or are they some sort of special order item? Had a quick look and could only see the thimbles for guitars that originally came with an AOM bridge.mackerelmint wrote:fortunately for me, though, staytrem caved to the demand for a fixed bridge and started making post bushings you can just stick on there to lock it in place. People report a huge boost in resonance, and it's only a few dollars if I decide to order them.

Just ask for them, he'll thrown them in with the price of the bridge.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Mastery bridge-- worth it?
I'd be interested in trying a Mastery, but am not willing to give up on a wound G.
This is still not addressed, as I understand ?

I used Mastery bridges with a wound G for several years before reverting back to stock AVRI bridges. No issue.MotorBongo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 5:31 pmI'd be interested in trying a Mastery, but am not willing to give up on a wound G.

GHS .012" based sets work well. Nels Cline uses (or used) GHS 'Boomers' in that gauge with Masterys also. I used their Nickel Rollerwounds at the time, in .012"-054" sets with a .022" wound 'G'.
You might find the people going on about how it 'doesn't work' have never tried it, or are just repeating nonsense they've read somewhere else.
Or more annoyingly, nonsense they've read here on this forum.

Re: Mastery bridge-- worth it?
I've had Mastery's on 3 of my guitars, they're great. In fact, the vintage JM I own now came with a Mastery, and the only reason I opted to buy a StayTrem was to better match the look of the original Fender bridge. I'll admit, I do like the flexibility in the individually moving saddles for intonation, versus the 3 fixed sets on the Mastery.
Then my favorite guitar is the Telecaster with the barrel saddles, so I guess I don't care so much after all.

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.
