Wrap-around bridges

Post by Lowendless » Thu Apr 10, 2014 6:37 pm

Mustang 25.5" project coming together. Have a convert bridge plate that requires a wrap around bridge. Any advice for intonation? Also what's the best wrap around bridge?

I've got a freshly-rehabbed LP Jr. in my lap right now that has an aluminum Pigtail bridge and studs installed. The action on this LP was always too high to play past the 7th fret and the Pigtail has the lowest profile of any wraparound. It plays great now. My luthier was really impressed with its quality and the guitar has really come to life, soundwise. Terrific bridge!

I'm a big fan of the Tonepros VTNA wraparound bridge. I've got one on my SG jr and it's absolutely perfect. The intonation is spot on.

If you want something a little more adjustable the Tonepros System II bridge

Looking strange, but beautiful.

Is that Tonepros Wrap-tail compensated (intonated) like the MojoAxe bridge?

It is, and honestly it's spot on.

I like simple bridges like that. I'm also a big fan of Compton Compensated bridges (although not wrap-tails) because they're just "right" without a lot of fiddling. They impart a musicality that I never quite get out of TOM or other bridges with a million parts.
