MIJ JM : Does anyone sell just the tremolo collet piece?
I have a tremolo from a MIJ Jazzmaster. The collet and teeth thingy are missing. (Sorry i don't know the name but I mean the hardware that the tremolo bar fits into.)
Does anyone sell just that piece, without having to replace the entire tremolo unit?
Thanks if you know anything.

An option I can wholly recommend is a Staytrem. Worth the reliable result, although somewhat pricier.

Thanks selentium! I did not know the word to Google (and it is "bushing"). Are you sure the USA bushing does not work with a MIJ trem plate and arm?..... they seem so very similar.

Re: MIJ JM : Does anyone sell just the tremolo collet piece?
my necro apologies first and foremost.
I think I'm having similar issues with my cij trem. The arm that came with it is really loose in the collet bushing and I thought maybe just replacing the collet and arm to something that is tight and smooth. Even the squier collet/arm is so much better than this cij junk thing. Would the US arm/collet fit the japanese trem plate?

No, the thread is a different size/pitch; (A very poorly cut IME) 10mm for Fender Japan vs 3/8" for Fender USA assemblies.

Re: MIJ JM : Does anyone sell just the tremolo collet piece?
My MIJ jazz had a loose floppy arm, fix was to put a zip tie around the slotted part of the collet and pull it tight so as to ever so slightly reduce its inner diameter, put it back together and the arm is just snug enough to hold it's own weight. The cost for the fix was one zip tie!soggy mittens wrote:my necro apologies first and foremost.

Re: MIJ JM : Does anyone sell just the tremolo collet piece?
not so much a floppy arm issue but more of a problem with the arm being too thin for the hole so even when it is tight there is still back and forth movement. this doesnt happen with my squier so im thinking it is a Japanese trem design flaw. Ialways put a metal rubber tube clamp around the base of the collets on all my floating trems which helps with the floppy issue. I'm probably just going to order a US trem and arm set. which sucks as it costs so much monies that i dont have right now x_x
