AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
As part of my build, I found an AVRI tremolo unit. It however does not come with a tremolo arm. I was wondering which aftermarket arms will fit the AVRI unit? Without shelling out too much on the AVRI one? Hoping there is an aftermarket alternative.
Not to be too cheap but they sell for almost $20 bucks and it does not even include the tip!!

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
There was a long thread a while back which seemed to come to the conclusion that even the ones being sold as AVRI nowadays are not true to original spec. They have a sharp bend rather than a gradual curve like vintage ones and the ones which came with AVRIs. On that basis, you may as well look at after-market suppliers such as Allparts or WD, and if $20 seems hefty to you, you're not going to want to know about the most authentic option by Stay-trem.
I'd gladly pay $20 if what arrived was a proper Jazzmaster tremolo arm with no tip, but in my case it wasn't - it was more like a CP one.

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
yeah, i hate to say it but you sound cheap.
usually you can get a AVRI arm for about $15 on ebay. it was designed to fit your tremolo perfectly.
So you can SAVE a big $6 and buy an Allparts (or another aftermarket) arm that may not have been designed or manufactured for your tremolo and you don't know if it will fit......
I'd say just spend the $6.

Yes I am cheap. The last time I looked it was 20 bucks without tip and shipping. I'll keep looking I guess.

i found some references to this AP arm "BP-0273-001" (though not on the AP site!) and they say it is a replacement arm for AVRI so it should work for you.
i also found real US Fender arms with tips for $14.99 on ebay. Sometimes you can find them for a bit less

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
BP0273001 Allparts arm doesn't work with the AVRI tremolo unit, I tried it with my AVRI unit & it doesn't fit the CIJ either.
I believe it fits the VINTAGE USA Jazzmaster & Jaguar.
I sold mine which I bought by mistake due to confusing listing on EBay, I then sold it for charity saying it was for a vintage tremolo unit & the buyer gave me positive feedback so I'm assuming it was used on a vintage Jazz/Jag without problems.
I still don't know which Allparts tremolo arm fits the AVRI & Allparts UK still have the same parts number listed for vintage & AVRI trem arms

Darren Riley sells the genuine Fender USA part (0054473000) for $14 with the tip of your choice included, don't know why you'd waste time gambling on AllParts bits which are often poor quality or a poor fit, even if they look 'the same' or similar (for example their Mustang bridge) to save a few dollars.
My guess: None of them.carausius wrote:I still don't know which Allparts tremolo arm fits the AVRI & Allparts UK still have the same parts number listed for vintage & AVRI trem arms

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
I've now finally got a "Made in USA" part number 0054473000 tremolo arm.
It doesn't have the same curved bend, but more of an a sharp angle & it's 3/4" shorter than my CIJ Jaguar arm. It also sticks out more from the collet despite being all the way down & doesn't come with a tip either.
According to another thread it seems Fender has changed the design but kept the same part number.
Don't know how much difference this will all make, if any. I'll see how I get on with it, first impressions it seems more like a Strat trem.
If anything my CIJ Jag trem is too low over the pickups so the AVRI trem might be OK once I get used to it!!!! Time will tell.

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
I recently changed the trem arm and collet of my AVRI with a staytrem trem arm and collet. It's much easier in use (I can now actually play with my thumb over it without detuning all the time) and it's sticking out higher.
Very much worth the extra cost.
I can highly recommend this one; as a surplus, it's got about the AVRI trem curve. The one I got is a bit shorter though.

Just an update. I i did end up buying a used AVRI trem unit. Its strange how Jazzmasters are so complicated as far as compatibility is concerned.

Re: AVRI Jazzmaster Tremolo Arm aftermarket compatibility
Fender screw in tremolo tip, part 099-4935-000 fits the AVRI fine. Probably the same type as a USA Strat, I doubt that there's a difference? Says on the back label it fits USA, Mexico & Japan Strats.
I actually like my AVRI trem arm, don't know if it's one of the new or old versions, but it stays in place exactly high enough not to interfere with the pickups & strumming, it much better feel & placement than my CIJ Jaguar arm which is too low over the pickups.
