Bigsby Vibrato adjustment

Post by 1946dodge » Sun Jun 17, 2007 4:06 pm

I just got a Schecter Ultra III with a bigsby vibrato. Is there any way to adjust it when I remove and change strings? I'd like to get a bit more swing on it.
There is a nut on the post connecting the arm to the body and it is surrounded by the spring. Can that nut be turned to raise or lower the arm?

I don't think so - they're not really made for that kind of thing - on any i've tried you can only get about a whole tone of downbend, and not an awful lot of upbend out of bigsby's.

Also, be careful when bending upwards on it - if you bend too much, the spring can come out!

Thanks CHrisjedijane.
Maybe I 'll take it apart when I change the striings so I can see how it works anyways.

You can get stiffer springs for them. You can get a little more travel that way. I think most plays that sell complete units also sell separate springs.

Also make sure that the arm is tight to the assembly. On one of mine it came and there was alot of play even in the arm itself because it wasn't screwed tight.
