hi all
my two week old cij (see avatar!) has a wiring issue
in the lead position the guitar is cutting out when I touch the volume knob
or the bridge pickup!! and even the trem seems to be getting in
on the act occasionally, althought this may be coincidence.
in rythym mode everythings hunky dory
this is from ishibashi so i cant be bothered sending it back
i will open it up and see if there is any obvious problems
but I was wondering if someone may be able to pinpoint
the problem or guide me as to what to try, i am not a guitar tech-type
is the schematic on seymour accurate?

Re: arggh... new JM - problems already
Around 1995 I bought Jaguar and Jazzmaster reissue and right out of the box it had wiring issues! there were some crappy offsets in that period 1995-96. Is yours from that time period? I had some friends who also had some trouble with models from those years. I took mine to a repair guy. with the 95' Jazzmaster it was a soldering issue that I fixed myself. I haven't had any problems with my American Vintage reissues.

hmm that's no good.. I'm not really sure what would cause it, possibly loose or bad connection I'd guess. If it were mine I'd open it up while plugged in and poke around to see if any wires cut in and out while you move them. I'd start with the wires that go from the pick up and volume pot up to the switches..
I'd first try emailing Ishibashi to explain the problem and see if they'd cover you taking it to a tech for repair

Re: arggh... new JM - problems already
hi all
i am opeing it up soon, is it safe to handle the innards
when it is plugged in?
isihbashi said that the Irish fender dealers wont deal with it
as they will not recognise the japanese warranty as the
guitar is supposed to be sold in jpan only
they did say i could return it at their cost
for repair or replacement, which is fair enough
i will try look at it though, I'm sure it is fixable

Safe for you, certainly .. there's no power in the guitar itself.fourmations wrote: i am opeing it up soon, is it safe to handle the innards

If you make strange electrical noises I suppose in theory you could damage the speaker of your amp, if it was turned up enough. Bridging positive and negative probably isn't too good for a tube amp either.
Anyway, I regularly mess around inside my guitars when they're plugged in with no problem.
