I just stumbled across this thread, and would like to say thank you for all the hard work that went into making these recordings.

The one thing that became apparent as I listened, is that there are a lot of really good choices in Jazzmaster pickup-land these days.

Anyone compared Curtis Novak JM-V to the Fender AVRI 65 Pickups? Which ones are closer to the originals?

I placed an order for a JM-V (and a JM-FAT) for my '65 AVRI yesterday. Once they arrive I can do a recording/comparison; unless someone else already has and posts. I don't know CN's present turnaround time, but I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,
If you don't use your 65' set, would it be possible to sell it to me?
Next Year I'll change my amp, I won't be able to make a good comparison anymore so I try to find few "famous" pickups.
I would like to find a Fralin, Kinman noiseless and 65' AVRI set.

I'll have to hear how the Novaks compare before making any promises, and probably need to hit 50 posts before making any deals.

Please do a comparison, would love to hear it since I too am considering both of these pickups.

There's a link a few pages back; has anyone tried The Creamery's pickups?

I was investigating P90s the other day, and visited the Creamery site/blog for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised.
GREAT site. Well thought-out... robust... tons of information... linked well... 8)

No affiliation.
But I would like to try a set of their P90s in my Casino

Are the new AVRI65 pickups supposed to be so good that they're close to Novaks?

I have the Kinman "Surfmaster" set and they are fantastic, and I am WAY past the honeymoon stage with `em. I have been wanting to put up a demo of them because there is not a single good demo of that pickup out there, and I would have appreciated a good demo when I was considering them. I think since I don't have a web cam I keep putting it off, but maybe I'll get around to it. I'll never go back to regular noisy Jazzmaster pickups again. They're that good.

hi there!

I've just bought a 2011 Squier VM Jazzmaster with fixed bridge. It's a nice guitar with good acoustics, but the Duncan Designed pick ups are very thin sounding.

I want to play rock with it and thinking of putting in a GFS vintage of overwound set in this axe. But I'm doubting about which to choose? Or are there any other PU set available for the same or a little higher price?

Thank you very much!

grtz Jim

Have you done a demo?

No, I keep putting it off because I don't have a webcam. Not only that, but I'm super busy, so demoing pickups is sort of low on the priority list.

Still love the pickups though, and I'm way past the honeymoon phase. Honestly I don't see how someone could not like them if they like the way Jazzmaster pickups sound (unless you prefer noise and hum).

Still, I realize it would be helpful to do a demo, as I would have appreciated one when I was considering them.
