I love the 'jazzcaster' on VAE SOLI list,
so basically, it is a jazzmaster body with telecaster pups?

I would like to chime in on the semour duncan antiquity IIs and their authenticity. I didnt save this but I did an A/B test earlier today with my friends completely original 63 jazzmaster and my brand new 2012 TMJM which comes with the antiquity IIs. The sound was so spot on its ridiculous, I was afraid that they were not going to sound as well and then I would hate my guitar but it just wasnt the case. This is all good news because the antiquity IIs were designed to replicate the mid 60's period jazzmaster pickups as you can read from their website. Hope this helps someone if thats what your looking for.

Has anyone tried a JM-V neck and a JM-WR in the bridge?

I know that's heresy but I've been thinking about making the jump a lot lately and was wondering if anyone has done it before

I can't listen to this, it just makes the decision all the more harder to make.

Great thread, and awesome resource though.

I don't know if I've posted this anywhere already but these are Pickup Wizard pickups in a mascis squier:

I cycle through all the positions (maybe not the rhythm circuit) but you have to listen for when the sound changes.

Awesome post and thanks for the samples.

I have a Pickup Wizard Vintage for JM set with the formvar wire and alnico 5 in my JM, but am looking for something that has MORE treble/upper-mids, and LESS bass/lower-mids.

After listening to the sound samples, I thought the SD Antiquity II's sounded best in the neck for sure but have been told that the Lollars are also great for getting the tone I described above. My tone is neck pickup with Hoof Fuzz so I want something that has high end shimmer and brightness and upper mids to cut through but still have some bass/low-mids to keep the chords sounding full and not thin (but obviously I've already eliminated the old-school pre-cbs 50's style JM pickups cos they're too dark).

Thanks for the help

Great guide, thank you.

wow going back and forth from the AVRI vs lollar and novak....i like the AVRI better sounds just a tad sweeter and more true to the Jazzy's sound...I'm sold on a AVRI bridge pickup to trasform my BT in to a true jazz...this will be sweet!
Excelsior amp love it a shit load more versatile then given credit for fender strat, squier standard tele don't hate, it has the tone I've been chasing since I modded it with my secret I won't reveal unless you REALLY wanna know and a blacktop Jazzmaster

Anyone have any good demos of the goldfoil novak pickups? Thinking of getting them for my squier j mascis...or maybe the JM-v's

Cant decide...
I know the gold foil wouldnt be so traditional surfy, which is why i wanted a jazzmaster in the first place...but i do play pretty mean and the gold foil's could be super unique...

Maybe goldfoil neck and JM-V bridge? or vice versa? any tips or demos?
