I've currently got D'Addario Chromes, Flatwound, 11-50 on my JM.
The bass strings seem too dull to me, though I do like smoothness of the strings, and the lack of fret buzz. Would half rounds brighten up the tone considerably? Am I going to have fret buzz now, since my guitar was setup for the heavier flatwounds?
Opinions on Half Round Strings

Maybe I should have read a few posts down first. My bad.

Re: Opinions on Half Round Strings
I tried Half-rounds a while back and didn't like 'em. To my ears they just sound like flats, perhaps a tad brighter. But they were really stiff, hard to play actually (I thried the d'Addario set, they only one availble at the "string specialist"...)
They were very expensive and did not add anything to the sound. Mind though that thing on a Jag or Jazz never really get that "super" bright.
I'll now stick to Flats and rounds.
