Looking after that lovely silverware....
OK. Its not silver. Not mine anyway. This is probably applicable to any metalware issue & I feel a bit of a dumb-ass for asking but as I'm new to The Word Of Guitar Restoration.....
....I've bought some old Single Line Tuners that are a little rusty.
Any good ways of treating the rust. Incidentally my JM tailpiece is doing the same so I guess this applies to the lot.

Anyone know the British equivalent of Deoxit?

well, with steel wool, keep it away from your pickups unless you want to risk destroying them, and the steel wool will only eff up the chrome on your tailpeice.
personally, I'd just leave it.

deoxit is made by a company called caig. there are products by a company called Rawn that are very similar, and i believe, not sure though, are available in europe. either one is usually found at an electronic supply house.
and i agree about the steel wool, you just end up with a bunch of "tramp iron" hanging around on your magnets.

You might try the dremel polishing kit, if you already have access to a dremel.

Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

if you use #0000 steel wool you shouldn't ruin anything... but those Dremel polishing kits work prtty well too. I always remove the parts from the guitar before polishing.

I think you should keep the rust. Unless it is like severe and the tuners will break (highly unlikely, I know...), I say keep it. People pay a truckload of cash for a Relic guitar. You get it naturally...
