Mine is way higher than that

Mine is also made from parts...  every jazzmaster I've owned has been a little different as far as the bridge/trem goes. I would take the screw out and feel for burrs, file it then polish with steel wool.

I'm curious as to how this all pan(headed)ned out...
The Mastery has got my action fantastically low, but now I've got the same problem.
Flat heads seem to be the simple solution, but reading the last couple of posts, I think my stop bar might be a bit too close to the trem plate as well. Can this be fixed via the trem-adjustment screw?

Mine still does it, but I haven't broken a string from it in quite some time. This was actually before I had the Mastery on there, and come to think of it, it hasn't happened since I put the Mastery on. Doubt that it'd be related though.

Oops. Should've been more clear. Mine isn't breaking, it's just buzzing a bit on the low E, whereas the other strings "ring out". It really doesn't have much effect on the amplified signal, much more so acoustically. But either the screw change OR if I can adjust the relation of the stop bar to the trem plate should take care of this.

It rests the same on my trem but it doesn't break strings, EVAR! And I use webstrings.com/ branded strings, been using them for years now. But I think it only just touches on mine, doesn't actually rest on it.

There's one possible solution, swap it out for a CIJ trem, i think them screws are not directly under them strings on CIJ trems.

Or just try webstrings out.
