Best set-up tech in Tacoma area?

Post by countertext » Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:54 am

Ok, I’ve been fighting a parts Esquire build for a while, and I can’t dial it in. Something geometrical and topological and possibly haunted is hidden in it that is preventing me from getting the action right.

Anybody know anyone good in or around Tacoma that will be able to diagnose some bad geometry for me and then make it playable?

Sorry, this isn’t the answer you were looking for, but...

Sketchy setups are the easiest to follow guides. I used the fender offsets guide and my Jazzmaster now plays like magic. For $8 it’s a great investment.

You can also try a home fret dress. It helped my Epiphone Les Paul go from unplayable (uneven frets) to Gibson playability. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/FOVERN1-Fing ... B086BKM58P

Let’s try this again. I normally do my own setups, have for years. There’s something UNUSUALLY funky with my Esquire that I can’t work out, and I don’t think it’s a regular setup issue.

Anybody know of a good, trusted tech in the Tacoma area?

I'm just south of you in Olympia, but I've had good experiences with Todd at Capital City Guitars, and the guy at Music 6000 (can't remember his name).
Both are in Olympia, if you're willing to drive.
