JM Bridge Upwards Pull: How Much?

How much should I be able to pull the vibrato bar up with a well setup JM Vibrato? Well setup would mean balancing the vibrato with the sliding button. My vibrato is a MIM design so does not have the sliding button.

Without a lock, I would recommend setting it to however much of a rise in pitch you want to be able to achieve. However, too much will result in low spring pressure and will make the guitar slightly more difficult to tune.

Cheers. Do you setup with a lock?

No, all my JM/Jag style vibratos are look-less

On mine, I get a full step bend up. And it’s properly set up with the lock mechanism.
