Any buzzing or rattling with a Staytrem bridge?

I was wondering if anyone has any experiences on whether Staytrem bridges eliminate the usual buzzing and rattling associated with the stock bridges? I was under the assumption that since the Staytrem doesn't have the springs that other bridges have, it won't really buzz.

I just put one back on my VM Jag, I'm using 11-52 strings tuned to Eb, and I do get some buzzing on the lower strings which is odd since the cheap aftermarket Mustang bridge it replaced was a bit more quiet.

I assume it's bridge buzz and not buzzing elsewhere ? Are the intonation screw washers tensioned properly to hold the screws ?

I'll check that, and I'll maybe see if the nut could be an issue?

It might not be the bridge itself...

I'm currently chasing a maddening buzz, but I don't think it's the bridge. Really hard to nail down where buzz actually originates from sometime. If you can get it to buzz when you are playing one handed, take your left hand and start holding various parts of the bridge/trem, knobs, switches, etc. and see if you can get it to consistently go away by damping a specific location... if, like mine, it only does it when you are fretting certain things... get a buddy to be a third hand.

I've got staytrem bridges in several guitars, and have only had any buzzing with one of them. It seems to only happen when the bridge is in a fully 'leaning back' position, rather than sitting up high in the centre as it should. I haven't worked out exactly what is buzzing, but suspect it might be the posts in the thimbles somehow resonating with certain frequencies.

In case yours is a similar problem, try pushing the bridge into different positions to see if that has any effect.

Cheers
J.

No buzzing issues at all!
The staytrem bridge is the best upgrade for my JM. 8)
Check if it is in an upright position. Also check the tremolo system, maybe something is loose there.

I found a major source of rattles was a less-than-snug trem lock button... I trimmed the edge off of a 1/2" rubber hole grommet I use for covering edges when building amps and put it around that lock and up against the plate - fixed a lot of buzz.

Did you ever solve this?

I've got crazy buzzing with a StayTrem bridge on a CIJ Jazzmaster with 11-48s.

It used to be there if I played hard (which wasn't ideal but I put up with it), but now it has got ridiculous to the point where I don't want to play the guitar. If push down on the bridge the buzzing stops.

I did. It was a combination of a neck/truss that needed to be adjusted along with some minor nut work. I get the odd minor buzz here or there, but it's barely noticeable.

Cool. I played mine yesterday and I've realised it comes and goes! After a minute or so it stopped being really bad, but then would occasionally come back for a few moments. Sometimes it sounds as if something is vibrating or rattling inside the guitar, and I'm wondering if something is lose/wrong in the trem system. I'm going to get a tech look at it next week.

For me I figured out the issue is the posts rattling against the edge of the thimble when the bridge inevitably loses its center and tilts back.

One of My Staytrem was buzzing like crazy ...And I didn’t see that page on the Staytrem website .
It took 2 minutes and no more buzzing or rattle .
It’s now perfect like my other ones .

I’ll have to try this. One of my Staytrem bridges kind of rattles so I put little bits of paper between a couple of the saddles. It is less than elegant.

I had some harmonic buzzing on the G. So I shimmed the neck with a .5 degree wedge and that solved it. The guitar’s harmonic jangle is Diminished, so I’m thinking of removing the shim.

This.^

I changed the bridge on my Player Jaguar for a Staytrem one and, at the same time, replaced the non-lock trem with a Fender replacement that has the locking button. At first I thought the bridge was buzzing but it was the trem lock button. Only happens when the lock isn't engaged.
