String wind ends before the tuner, only core wraps

Post by PorkChop » Sun Jan 20, 2019 10:00 am

I decided to try the Tenorio strings. JAG52s. 11-52. They seem great so far. Stretched once and only the high E has needed retuning. The D string wind doesn’t make it to the tuner though. Just the core is wrapped on the post. Has anyone had this experience with a string before? It sounds fine. Just wondering if the wind will start to unravel or loosen and cause the string to get squirrelly. Thanks.

Don't worry, they're supposed to be like that. A JM set that I tried a couple months ago had the wraps all end in between the nut and the tuners, no issues.
