Jazzmaster strings: 10s vs 11s / Balanced tension?

So I had my Tele strung with 11s and I liked it. Put some on my JM and not so much. Recently put 10s back on the JM and gave the neck a tweak and it plays much nicer but somehow not as easy to play as the Tele, feels too thin. Played a couple of friends' Epiphones recently (a Les Paul and a Dot) and they felt really nice to play with 10s yet back to my Jazz and it just doesn't feel right :(

Can anyone recommend a set of 11s that won't feel like cheese wire on the top strings? I had some EB Power Slinky on it before, just too stiff.

I've only just found out about balanced tension strings, can anyone speak to those?

Cheers

You might like a skinny top heavy bottom set. It’s 10-52 so kind of a mix of 10s and 11s.

I switched to Thomastik Infeld JS111 which I liked, in case you'd consider switching to flatwounds.

It's definitely heavier than 10s but doesn't feel like it's fighting you. Wound G string, though.

Pyramid makes a 10-13-17-28-38-48 set in the maximum performance line (pure nickel wrap on a hex core). 10s on the top, 11s on the bottom.

I have not tried this set, personally, I'm using the regular 11-48 set on my JM right now. Hands down the best hex core strings I have ever tried. The plain strings are silver plated like Thomastik, but not nearly as expensive.

I use d'Addario 10.5-48s on my JM and I haven't looked back. It's basically an 11 set but the high e is 10.5 and the b-string is 13.5 to make bending easier without losing the tension on the lower ones.

Balanced tension strings habe equal tension on each string. It's very good for s type guitars because of the equal tension, it will share equal on each springs.

10.5's are exactly what I thought of based on the OP's request. Definitely worth trying.

Yeah that sounds good actually, noticed those shortly after posting and was hoping someone would have experience of them. Cheers, gonna look into some!
