Low noise instrument cables
Anybody got a preference? If so, what, and what makes it something you appreciate?
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Low noise instrument cables
I've never really seen much noise from cables in general. Are you seeing noise specific to cabling crop up? If so how does it manifest?
I've been gigging the GC Livewire Advantage series of cables for years with no issues that I could say came from them. I like the metal ends that would let me resolder a break if needed. No need so far though.

Re: Low noise instrument cables
Well, yeah, I am finding some noise in my little studio at home. It's probably not cable related, but I did become aware of some cables that talk about their shielding being better than others so I am of course intrigued.
I am a little unusual in that I give a fair amount of thought towards reducing noise at every chance I get. I was just curious if anyone had any recommendations for low noise cables.
After doing some research, I ended up buying one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074F ... UTF8&psc=1
And haven't really noticed all that much difference- I bought fairly good cables in the past anyway.

I make my own. I get whatever length I need of Mogami W2524 and use Neutrik jacks almost exclusively, specifically this one. I keep them as short as possible, without having to worry about the cables being too short. Works fantastically. If you're good with a soldering iron, you won't get a better cable for the money. I think I spent less than $40 for 2 15-20 foot cables. Used the color-coded boots too!!

Re: Low noise instrument cables
Good suggestions, I have thought about making my own cables and am fine with a soldering iron. That might be fore later when I have my own house, though, a little more room.

I hear that. I made 4, but will likely need more later on, when I get my own place. I had a Planet Waves cable for like 13 years that held up really well, and didn't seem to cause any extra noise.

Re: Low noise instrument cables
I've been very pleased with my gigging cables from Divine Noise. Good service and rugged, quiet cables.
Still, I find the ones I've built from Redco instrument cable (TGS-HD) and 1/4" plugs (HP2C) with some shrink tubing stress relief to be just as quiet, very serviceable and more economical.
