Thanks, Windmill! So, I have an AVRI 62 Jaguar. You think the different cavities aren't connected to the ground like in the case of the Japanese bass? Ok that's possible of course - but it kind of restates the same thing, which is that it was always like that and I had not noticed it before. If it wasn't happening before it becomes a matter of retracing your steps until you can locate where the problem is, ie what was changed, possibly by accident, when you did your work.
Check that all the shielding is connected to a ground.
Experiment with alternative ground wires from the trem to the ground.
It will probably take a bit of trial and error to isolate the cause of the problem.
