920d jm vintage wiring kit parts - what is what?
So, I'm finally getting around to swapping out the electronics in my squire vmjm, using a 920d vintage kit. Problem is, the individual pieces aren't labelled in any clear way whatsoever, so I don't which pots go where. The two pots for the main volume and tone, I think, are supposed to be identical, they both have '450GT25K105A2L' on them, but one pot has '1707' and another has '1522'. Does that matter? For the rhythm/lead switch pots, I thought one is supposed to be 50k and another 1 mg, but neither of them say that. One has '270S3247 1529' and the other has '270S3246 1529', so I can't tell which is which? Also, stupid question but do i put the gnarled washers on the inside or outside of the pickguard?

Mcbrandt,
I had 920d do a custom wirIng harness for me a few weeks back. I’d shoot Jimmy (I think that’s his name) an email at orders@920dcustom.com. They’re pretty friendly and helpful there and I’m sue they’d help you with any questions about which pot goes where.
Good luck!

I put the lock washer on the inside because they're ugly and scratch up the surface. Apparently you're supposed to put them on the side with the nut, though, but I've never had a problem.
If it's vintage spec the volume pot is usually linear and the tone pot logarithmic, so they aren't identical. I believe 1522 is the logarithmic (i.e. tone) one, but best to email them. Honestly some people probably prefer it the other way around.

Thanks for the advice you guys. I ended up emailing 920d shortly after posting this, because I thought 'who the hell here would have the part numbers for random pots memorized', and Jimmy helped me out. I must have ordered the wrong kit, because the bracket for the rhythm/lead pots was too long, and the rollers were too wide, for the pick guard. I ended up using the stock parts for that, since I won't really be using it anyway. The rest went together without much hassle.

Not to disparage a vender on this site, but I haven’t had good luck with 920D. I ordered a kit that was shoddily made and broke when I removed it from the cardboard.

Mine was fine out of the box. The switch is now starting to crackle but I'm hoping contact cleaner can fix it, it's supposed to be a switchcraft switch so I guess it isn't their fault.
