What did I buy???

Post by blacktiger » Mon Jul 02, 2018 5:19 pm

I ordered a set of roller knobs that were sold as being for American made Jazzmasters/Jags, but the part number is wrong according to the official Fender parts lists and the hole for the mini pot seems way too small. It's in Fender packaging and claims "made in USA." The part number is 0054455049. The correct part number according to the FMI Assests parts list is 0054455000.

Darren Riley says they are the same thing ...
http://darrenriley.com/store/fender-jag ... 054455000/
But does specify which pot numbers they fit.

There are a few instances with Fender where two identical items have different part numbers. But I guess some may be only 'nearly identical'.

Angela says the 0054455000 is 'for mini pots' ...

But this one gives actual inside diameter ...
https://www.customworldguitarparts.com/ ... 5-000.html

However this site uses same 0054455000 part number for different US and Japanese parts ...

Confusing indeed ...

Thanks, that was helpful. I think the mini pots I've had laying around for years are the problem. I think they are made to fit import guitars (borne out by the fact that they fit the roller discs from my VMJM).
