I'm borrowing a strat on long term loan from a friend because I haven't had a guitar in a few months and he found out
It's a nice American Strat and I dig it, but I just put 11s on it and did a setup and I currently have the tremolo gap at about 5mm. I know that Fender's spec is 1/8'' which is about 3.2mm, so I'm a bit high... but I like the way the trem sounds and feels. Is this bad for the guitar or should I be okay?

Re: Strat question
If it feels good and sounds good, it is good. You aren't going to hurt a Strat by being a couple of millimeters off setup specs. I've had my various Strats a lot further from factory setup than that, and none have ever been permanently affected in any way.

Re: Strat question
Agreed. Just checked my CIJ Strat with Calaham bridge and it’s that high. Plays very well (and I think Calaham recommends their bridges flat on the top).
