VMJM mini pots

Post by gloeb » Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:15 pm

The volume pot on my VMJM is in need of replacement. I can't, however, find the 1meg, split shaft, mini pot that is in it anywhere. Has anyone been able to buy replacements that do not require widening the pot hole in the pickguard?

I had the same problem. However when i actually experimented, i found that standard sized pots did actually fit without modification to the pickguard.

I'm not sure If my VMJM is a bit off a weird one though because the rhythm roller bracket was standard size too. Mine was made in 2017 and new when i got it. Maybe they changed the parts. I understand Squier are nothing if not inconsistent.

Might be worth trying a standard pot though if you haven't already.

In my search for mini pots i could only find 500k ones. I think they were Alpha.

Good luck!

Paul

Dang, I did try with a standard size CTS, but I believe my jm to be an earlier 2007ish. I'll try again though. Thanks, Paul!

I doubt it would take much to widen the holes though. A reamer, drill bit (hand held), file or even sandpaper should it.

It is strange about the lack of 1 meg minis though ...

Like mentioned, the guard hole is easily opened up if need be. But if you must have that kind of pot, does this work?

That does seem to be the right size. I think I'll try to open it up since I already have a standard size one.

Thanks for your help :)
