Mustang saddles too spaced
Hi folks,
I just swapped saddles on my Squier Jaguar with some Mustang ones. I had a japan empty bridge and mounted them on it.
The problem is that there is too space between each saddle and low E string is too near the border of the fretboard.
Nut is in order and neck too, infact the original bridge had a better spacing of strings.
Is it normal or mij bridges are differently spaced than US or Squier ones?
Thank U.

(Some) aftermarket Mustang saddles aren't as wide as genuine Fender (including Fender Japan) items, which looks like what you've got here.

E-E spacing on Mustang-style saddles varies from around 52 to 55mm.

Re: Mustang saddles too spaced
I think the Japan bridges are narrower. I once bought some Graphtech Mustang saddles that were too narrow for my Warmoth bridge and had lateral play. They look like they'd fit this one.
A USA-spec bridge should fit those properly.

Thank you guys, So, i guess i should buy an All parts bridge to fit these All Parts saddles.
I am afraid that a complete US bridge (bridge+ saddles) could be too wide.

If I were you, I'd put a staytrem on that guitar. 52mm spacing, quality parts, why not?

Not sure that Allparts lists their Mustang bridge string spacing but this site suggests that it is 56mm ...

This is what I'd vote for. I've thrown away money looking for cheap solutions to simple problems. Usually, the best solution is to pay once for something that works well, rather than pay repeatedly for halfway solutions.MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 3:30 amIf I were you, I'd put a staytrem on that guitar. 52mm spacing, quality parts, why not?

Re: Mustang saddles too spaced
Another option that I am surprised isn't used more often is to get a vintage US Mustang bridge. I have seen them for not that much on eBay and Reverb from time to time. Then you also get a little worn in mojo and no gaps.

I've got 4 guitars with them (all vintage). Unless I'm putting it in a vintage instrument, I'd rather go Staytrem for the money, to be honest.HNB wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 11:44 amAnother option that I am surprised isn't used more often is to get a vintage US Mustang bridge. Re: Mustang saddles too spaced
Just to clarify, genuine Fender Japan Mustang bridges do not have gaps between the saddles, and I believe they're the same width/string spacing as USA spec (where vintage is the only option) at ~55mm.

Just some perspective on what things cost at the bottom of the world here, a Staytrem is around $160 in the shops or $130 shipped from the UK.

A Mastery is around $260 shipped. That's AUD$.
Which is why I go with cheaper-assed solutions (first ?) some of the time ...

Re: Mustang saddles too spaced
i have a mustang bridge on my classic lacquer jag when i buy it (the one without the space,)but i reput the stock one ,i find the mustang bad i prefer the stock one ,i am longtime user of jazzmaster bridge and i find the sound of mustang not to my taste and more over i find it make noise (more harmonics behind the bridge )that i don't like very much (i ear like the string buzz on the fretboard )
