Lately I bought a plastic cover for my JMBT HS to improve the esthetic of the black humbucker (I want to convert black plastic hardware to cream).... the cream color one I found (https://www.thomann.de/fr/schaller_172.htm) wasn't shinny as the JM pickup one, more matte finish. So I decided to smooth it and I found a good solution called "Cold Acetone Vapor Smoothing", a process well known of the 3D object builder... here is a tuto :

it works very well, but you must be very carefull no to let the cover to long because it becomes limp... the finish is really smooth and brilliant !

Re: Plastic pup cover smoothing trick
That's amazing! I wonder if that technique would work on things that weren't ABS plastic... I have a couple 3D printed pickup covers that are REALLY cool, but I'd love if they could a bit smoother...
