JM Pickguard/Pickup Cover Spacing and Sympathetic Resonance

Curious what the gap is like on most AVRI or even vintage Jazzmastes between the pickup covers and the pickguard itself. My CIJ has plenty of space as does my Squier VM Special. But with my two builds things are much tighter.

The one build is using an anodize aluminum guard from ToneGuard and Novak JM-WRHB, on a JM body. Things are tight between the covers and the pickguard. With this guitar I do run into the guard having some sympathetic resonation... more than I'd like. Not sure if it's just a product of the anodized guard... or if it's being exacerbated by the tightness of the guard keeping the pickups moving thus affecting their field. I dunno... don't even know if that's possible.
