S-H-S phase question

Post by Gavanti » Sun Oct 01, 2017 11:38 am

In a S-H-S configuration, would rotating the humbucker affect how it interacts with the other pickups? I've got a S-H-S setup in a guitar currently as an experiment. The neck and bridge are RWRP with each other. Both sound out of phase relative to the middle when it's on with either of them (or both). It's not a bad setup sonically now, but I'm curious if it's possible to reverse the polarity of the coils in the humbucker "facing" the singles to get a more in-phase combination.

If anyone else is curious, the answer is nope, or at least not in this case.
