How to remove sleeves?

Post by LHR » Sun Aug 20, 2017 1:14 pm

Say, I just installed two Staytrem bridges, one rocking and one fixed, on a Jazzmaster and a Jaguar, respectively. I really like them! I reasoned that the stationary bridge, with the Nylon sleeves affixed, might suffice (a la Mastery) but I'm not able to hold tuning well with the Jag. Anyone ever remove these sleeves? If so, how (they appear to be attached in a fairly permanent way?) Will this action compromise the essential functioning of the part? I would not be opposed to using LocTite on the unsleeved post screws, for instance, since the sleeves seem to be designed also to prevent spontaneous lowering of the height.

A cursory Internet search yields no immediate answer. Many thanks in advance for the sage advice, here, especially if I'm overlooking the obvious, somehow.

Heat &/or Knife should work. Try sitting it in boiling water first.

I'd just email John - a helpful chap. edit - thought better of posting his email address here but there is a contact page at https://secureshop.co.uk/epages/9500023 ... ontactForm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The first bridge I ordered, a 9.5 radius came the sleeves on and I liked them for a while but decided I preferred the rocking bridge. They just came off with a bit of elbow grease and a grippy tool. I later put them on a 7.25 inch bridge for a new AV that I bought and I could put them on and take them off no problem. As l9gaj said, if the problem persists, shoot him and email. He's very friendly and responds fast during the day.
