Rollers flush with guard WTF!!

Post by old_picker » Mon Apr 24, 2017 11:28 pm

Working on a partscaster JM left here for a bit of a tidy up and cant get the rollers above the guard.

The thickness of the guard and the bracket preclude the rollers from protruding above the guard. The pots are 17mm diam and resting right on the bracket. The rollers are standard 25mm [1"]. Last thing left to try is cut out slots in the bracket underneath the pots. This will allow the rollers to sit the thickness of the bracket above the guard. Probly not enough.

Any one else seen this or know how it should work. I've done very little time on JM's.

The correct CTS (US spec) or Alpha (Japan spec) pots are 16mm or just less, so sit nicely in the bracket. If you're using non-standard values you can order them from places like Mouser or Banzai.

I'm soon to take delivery of a 1965 JM that's had the bracket butchered like you describe to accommodate a larger pot. :fp: Don't do it!
