JAGUAR NECK POCKET SPECS/COMPATIBILITY
I have a 1965 neck that bought about 15 years ago, but haven't used it on anything, yet. Can anyone tell me what Jaguar bodies form the various models that I can match this in to? For example will the Classic Player models, Reissues 62 or 65, thin skinned lacquer models, CIJ, etc. work with my neck? I would hate ti invest in a body that doesn't fit properly with my vintage neck.

Every body except Japanese ones will fit with only the usual, slight adjustments that any fender neck/body pair might need for optimal fit. Mexican, American, Chinese (but please god don't mate a Chinese body with a vintage neck, it deserves a better home).
Japanese bodies have a neck pocket that's just about a millimeter wider, which can be filled with a shim, though with the abundance of MIM and MIA bodies on the market, it wouldn't make sense to me.
IMHO, you'd do well to grab something with nitro to avoid an anachronistic feel - any of the MIM (60's lacquer, Road worn) or MIA (AVRI, AV65, Marr) nitro-finished bodies would "feel" right in that the finish would feel more similar to the touch than shiny poly.

Thanks for the reply. Good point about the CIJ bodies, I think I had heard the same thing before years ago (forgot about it). I also think your suggesting about matching certain MIA and MIM bodies would make more sense. I don't anything about Chines made bodies, in fact I didn't even know there were official Chinese Fender models on the market now.
Thank you.

I think that Mbene was thinking about a chinese squier Vm Jag body.
I would consider a MJT body... you can choose the finish and the aging you want.

Actually, there are Chinese Fender Jag (and JM) bodies out there - from the Modern Player series, though they are made with cheap wood and thick poly finishes and are hardly worthy of an original '65 neck.frelonvert wrote:I think that Mbene was thinking about a chinese squier Vm Jag body.

MJT is another good suggestion. I have a partscaster jaguar I'm putting together with an MJT body and a vintage '64 neck. It depends on whether you want everything to be official, Fender-made, or not...
