Re: T-O-M ???
I just got the Nashville in the post and put it on my mustang and it would seem it is slightly wider spacing than the standard tom,not that i even noticed until you mentioned it.lol.
Also it sits a little higher at its lowest point than a standard tom so now i have to swap 'em,put the Nashville on my jag and the standard tom on my mustang as a jag is better suited to a higher bridge than a mustang.
So for those contemplating a TOM: for the Higher bridge profile=Gotoh Nashville, from pg to top of bridge is 12mm.
for the Lowest profile=Standard Gotoh TOM, from pg to top of bridge is 9.8mm.
The hight is nothing major but quite noticable and imo the higher is best suited to Jags/Jazz'
Surely this useless info will help some one :-\

Re: T-O-M ???
I just installed one on my Jazzmaster that I bought at guitar center for 14 bucks, and I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. The action is lower that I could ever get it with the mustang bridge. I did notice that the guitar is a bit darker, not quite as bright, which isn't a bad thing in my mind. I had to take a dremel tool and shave off the bottom part of the posts to get it to fit in the cups and be low enough to play but other than that, it dropped right in. no rocking or buzzing.
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Re: T-O-M ???
I installed a T-O-M on my MIJ Jazzmaster after reading this page: http://www.jag-stang.com/tomMod.htm
I've found it quite beneficial, for all the reasons other people have posted. As well, I find the StewMac TOMs way cheaper than a mustang bridge which matters to a broke guy like me. I'm sure my guitar could be setup better, but at least it's playable now.

Re: T-O-M ???
nice jag. are you using flatwound strings? sorry, a little off topic...corona wrote: Heres some photos i took a while back of my Jaguar with a T-O-M,it's not angled and it's an Intonation dream.it's also got the proper Fender radius too, courtesy of a shity little file.
Oh, I've never had a string break either.

Re: T-O-M ???
as i posted in the other thread, im putting a tom in my jm maybe.
but do you have to cut the saddles yourself on the tom's?
i've had about 6 e strings snap because of the trem with the normal bridge.
and then the trem broke. shit japanese hardware, it creeks and makes shitloads of noise, so im gonna put and av one in soon.

Re: T-O-M ???
They have guides on 'em so you know where to file.
Believe it or not, strings will still jump out of a TOM if you don't file deep enough,i probably didn't need to go quite so deep but i just wanted it to cause no problems. It so simple to file and install a tom. Get the gotoh Nashville,it fits right in no mods needed.

But one of these would be fine,I'm sure someone will tell you exactly what you need and where to get it what ever country your in.

that´s the same kind i used. i used a squared one to get a perfect v-shaped slot.corona wrote: Uh,i usually use a broken file.

so what do you do do you just measure the nut spacing and cut them like that or just on the half of the saddle?

Re: T-O-M ???
same here. and in case yours doesn´t have any pre-cut slots, then yes, the center of each saddle is where they should go.Superfuzz wrote:I filed over the pre-existing slots..Puke+Cry wrote: so what do you do do you just measure the nut spacing and cut them like that or just on the half of the saddle?
