New Klangkraft "Autobahn"

Post by elbonzoseco » Sat Mar 05, 2016 7:46 am

Hi, I hope I don't violate any rules here, but since Klangkraft don't sell outside the EU anyway, this shouldn't count as advertisement.

Anyway, I had the opportunity to design a new model for them, it's obviously influenced by a Squier Supersonic, but it's actually quite different. The dimensions are bigger, as is the scale (25.5"). The body shaping is flatter and the lower horn is not as pronounced. but see for yourselves, I hope you like it:

It's beautiful. I think some additional inlays on the fretboard would have added to the look providing some extra contrast. I have another guitar with a rosewood fretboard and no inlays at all, and I just find that look flat and boring personally. The inlay at the 12th is gorgeous however. How does it sound?

I didn't want to take anything away from the "autobahn" logo on the 12th fret, I tried some variations on the other frets, but nothing stuck. I'm still working on the electronics, these are Häussel 1956 p90s, which are very well. There's a version with tapped coils as well, I'm thinking about trying those. It's a very unique sounding guitar, wouldn't know what to compare it to :D

+1 on the headstock. Nice looking guitar.
The bridge is reallyinteresting. I've seen bass bridges similar in design but never a guitar bridge. Looking at the Klangkraft site there are no other references to it. Do you have any closeup photos?

thanx :) The bridge is by ETS (GB7000), they're more known for their bass parts, so you're right.

there are more photos to come, the guitar has just been launched on social media, but not yet on the main page.

Wow, that's a cool guitar. I'm a big fan of "Autobahn" and Kraftwerk in general and could really enjoy something like that.

Good work... that's something to be proud of.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Thank you :) Since the brand is called Klangkraft and I live in Düsseldorf (home of Kraftwerk) it only seemed natural to call it Autobahn. I'm also a big fan of the big lebowski, so.. ;)

Depends on the features, this one should be about 1700,- Euros. But as I stated before, as of right now, only available within the EU.

Admit it... You're a Kraftwerk fan as well.

Their influence is plain to see in the brand name you've chosen for your guitars ("Klang" from the name of their studio "Kling Klang" and Kraft... well that's obvious. Plus you called a guitar Autobahn ;D :D :P )

Cool looking axe by the way.

:D I already confessed that Kraftwerk was a major influence to the guitar, but the brandname was there before I started working with them. Klangkraft is an old german term to describe the volume of orchestras etc.

But yeah, Kraftwerk and Autobahn from the big lebowski (which is a Kraftwerk spoof) are what made me want to do this. All the colors will be car colors as well ;)
